About Us

Our History:

1960

In 1960, Alfonso Palacio and Nubia Hoyos arrived in Apartadó, Antioquia and bought a small store on the main street of the town. With tenacity, desire and drive, they built step by step the company that would be called ALTIPAL.
Years passed, the dream continued its course and it grew; in the 80’s Altipal expanded to Turbo and Medellín.

1990 The 90’s arrived and Don Alfonso decided to make way for a new generation, named his son Jorge Humberto Palacio as head of the company and Altipal Bogotá was founded.

The strategy at the time was to work with no more than 12 suppliers with leading brands in the market, among which there was no competition, this to ensure a prosperous and transparent business, that will allow us to build a future with strategic allies.
In the following decade and as a result of the focus on few suppliers, two of them in particular, Team and Colgate, supported the opening of new offices in Pereira, Ibagué, Boyacá and Villavicencio.

At the beginning of 2000, a strong alliance with Coltabaco started in Bogotá, which over the years has extended to other areas of the country, aided by the purchase of Coltabaco by Philip Morris.

Altipal enters the category of wines and spirits, celebrating an alliance with Diageo, a company that represents the most recognized alcoholic drink brands worldwide.
Altipal strengthened its commercial relationship with Kellogg ‘s, becoming one of its strategic distributors in Colombia.

In 2008 we entered the Beer category. In 2012, we started a strong alliance with Budweiser, with whom we became a direct importer and exclusive distributor.
In this same year the companies came together to constitute Altipal SA, a family with 17 warehouses, 54 years of history, values ​​and principles and full of enterprising people that with Love, Passion and Discipline, have been part of the evolution of this dream.
